Affordable home deal advances in Stockton
Vistry and registered housing provider Beyond Housing will build 106 homes on the 670-plot Summerville Meadows development in the Co. Durham market town.
Work will begin towards the end of 2025, with completion expected in 2028.
Vistry North East will construct the homes and Beyond Housing will own and manage the properties, all of which will have an emphasis on sustainability.
75 of the homes will be assigned for social rent and 31 will be shared ownership.
The £170m Summerville Meadows development is being constructed on a site off Harrowgate Lane, which, over the next seven years, will bring almost 700 mixed-tenure homes to the market.
Vistry will be implementing a sustainable approach to construction during the build, increasing the levels of insulation used and installing air-source heat pumps, as well as EV charging points.
The delivery of the project is being supported by grant funding from Vistry Group’s strategic Partnership with Homes England.
Andrew Rennie, development director with Vistry North East said: “These 106 affordable homes follow an earlier deal for 126 properties with Beyond Housing, agreed last year and on which work is already underway.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Beyond Housing again, further strengthening a strong relationship which has already contributed to the delivery of highly successful projects across the North East.
“Our record managing largescale mixed tenure housing developments of this kind is well proven. Over 1,000 homes have already been delivered at similar schemes near Redcar (Foxrush Walk) and in Middlesbrough (Bracken Grange).
“Work is also well underway on a mixed tenure project in Sunderland City Centre (West Park Quarter), delivering a further 265 homes on the site of the former council buildings, and on a scheme regenerating an old rail depot into a community of 270 homes in Gateshead (Freight Village).”
Clare Harrigan, director of development at Beyond Housing, said: “This scheme underpins our commitment to providing services our customers value, homes they want and places they are proud of.
“Shared ownership properties will soon be available for sale through our Viola Homes brand, with rented properties to be allocated through Tees Valley Home Finder closer to completion.”
