Aidan Baker leaves BNP Paribas after 22 years

Baker is moving on from his role as senior director and head of the Newcastle office for the real estate firm.

Having joined Chesterton in 2003 as a senior surveyor, he progressed to associate director when the company was acquired by Atisreal.

When that was subsequently bought by BNP Paribas Real Estate, Baker kept climbing the ranks and was made senior director in 2020, as well as being head of the Newcastle office in 2022.

Baker specialised in advising clients who were relocating office premises, with clients including Highbridge, Arup, Kier, Moorfield, Persimmon, IBM, Accenture, Palace Capital, Womble Bond Dickinson, Gateshead Council, Marrico, NHS, McAleer & Rushe, EDF, Mapeley and Accenture.

Previous clients also include Hanro, Npower, Railtrack Plc, Rolls Royce, Evans of Leeds, Industrial Securities, Centrica and Rokeby Developments.

Throughout his career, Baker has worked on projects including letting vacant office buildings at Cobalt Park, the UK’s largest office park in Newcastle, advising on a new-build office of 50,000 sq ft by Gateshead Council at Baltic Quarter, and the leasing of landmark offices in Newcastle city centre such as East Quay 5 and Trinity Gardens.

His work across the North East also includes brokering the largest office deal in Sunderland with Npower and JustEat at Rainton House of 220,000 sq ft.

Recently, JustEat vacated Rainton House and moved into 18,000 sq ft at the Maker building.

He was also involved in the biggest deal in North Tyneside with the 206,000 sq ft letting to Sage at Cobalt Park and most recently the pre-let to DWP of 185,000 sq ft at 1 Pilgrim Place in Newcastle city centre.

Baker said: “None of this would have been possible without the fantastic support and high calibre of colleagues across the country.

“A massive thank you also to all the clients who have worked with me during this time.”
