Baltic Place gets a rebrand
Robertson Construction is carrying out refurbishment works at the 140,000 sq ft office development on Gateshead Quays, which will be renamed Baltic Works on completion in May.
Landlord South Shore Developments is retaining Parker Knights and Avison Young as agents for the scheme, and hopes to position Baltic Works to rival popular offices in Newcastle city centre.
Split across the building’s two towers, work will include installing grade A facilities such as a gym, changing rooms, improved cycle options, a business lounge, and a new reception area.
Outside, landscaping and seating areas will also be updated.
Current occupiers of the building include Robertson itself, alongside Santander, Cambridge Assessments, Northern Gas & Power, and the most recent tenant Gallagher, an insurance broker and risk management firm.
Matt Dawson, property business manager at South Shore Developments said: “This refurbishment and rebrand marks a significant step forward for the building.
“Baltic Works has been designed to reflect how people want to work today, prioritising wellbeing, flexibility and high-quality shared spaces.
“Our investment is about creating an environment that supports occupiers, attracts new businesses to the developing Gateshead Quays, and positions Baltic Works as a standout office destination in the Newcastle-Gateshead market.”
Gill Moffatt, managing director of Gallagher’s Newcastle office, stated: “Creating a balanced working environment is a priority for us, and this space has been thoughtfully designed to include areas for focused work alongside spaces for relaxation, social interaction, and rejuvenation.
