Banks to build 350 Durham homes
The developer is expected to submit formal plans for the 37-acre site located off York Hill Road in Tudhoe in the next few months.
Located to the south of the city, the housing mix would include bungalows and 15% affordable housing.
The County Durham-based homebuilder is holding two appointment-only surgeries as a public consultation, on Wednesday 21 May at Tudhoe Community Centre and Thursday 29 May at the offices of Learning Curve Group on Dunelm Rise, within the Durham Gate development in Spennymoor.
Banks intends to offer a range of contracts to local suppliers throughout the construction phase.
Kate Culverhouse, community relations manager at Banks Group, says: “There’s a real need for more high-quality housing sites within reach of Durham City, but there are only a limited number of locations in which they might be found, and our site at Tudhoe, which sits outside the designated green belt, represents one such ideal location.
“This development would benefit from excellent access to the surrounding transport network and would sit just a short distance from both Durham City and Spennymoor, making both locations accessible in a matter of minutes.
“We are confident that there would be significant demand for property on this development and want to further increase the long-term investment we’re making in our home county.
“This development would deliver a wide range of economic, employment, environmental, supply chain and social benefits to both the local community and wider Durham City region, and we’re excited to share full details of how we’re looking to achieve these ambitions at our forthcoming community events.”
