Blyth to gain 10,000 sq ft indoor sports venue

Padelsphere is preparing to open at Progressive Court on Spencer Road by early August, creating one of Northumberland’s largest dedicated indoor padel venues.

The facility will include three panoramic glass courts, a café and licensed bar, lounge areas, live sports viewing, and upgraded changing facilities with saunas. The venue has been designed as a mixed-use leisure destination combining sporting facilities with social and hospitality space.

The development is expected to improve access to padel across Northumberland, with the operators targeting a catchment of more than 80,000 residents across Blyth and surrounding communities.

Padelsphere has been supported by Business Northumberland, the business support service for Northumberland County Council, as it establishes the venue locally and prepares for future recruitment.

The project forms part of wider investment and regeneration activity taking place in Blyth, including the Energising Blyth programme, Energy Central Campus, and the Northumberland Line improvements, which are supporting economic growth and attracting new businesses to the town.

Northumberland County Council said the new venue reflects the continued transformation of Blyth and the growth of new and innovative businesses in the area.

Cllr Richard Wearmouth, cabinet member for regeneration at Northumberland County Council said: “This is a great addition to Northumberland, and Blyth in particular, and we’re pleased to have been able to support Padelshere

“This is an exciting time for Blyth as the town continues to flourish – drawing in many new and innovative businesses.”
