Castle gets to work on 50,000 sq ft Boldon refurb
The South Tyneside contractor has been appointed by UK Land Estates to convert the industrial unit into a grade A factory, office, and warehouse unit.
Enabling and demolition works will include the removal of asbestos, removal and replacement of the roof, wall cladding, curtain walling and windows, and a complete strip-out and replacement of MEP systems.
The end result will have open-plan modular offices, staff amenities and a canteen area, a staff car park, heating and air conditioning systems, and aluminium-framed double glazing.
The warehouse area will have LED lighting, solar roof panels, gas heating, and 1.8MVA capacity.
Formerly occupied by automotive component manufacturer Faltec, which has moved to the nearby International Advanced Manufacturing Plant,
Castle has a long-standing relationship with UK Land Estates, and has been principal contractor on other schemes such as the grade two-listed St George’s House and Maingate in Gateshead.
Andrew Dawson, managing director at Castle, said: “Being based in South Tyneside we are always very keen to win contracts such as this, especially as Castle has deep roots in the local area with a large percentage of our colleagues coming from the borough.
“We are, once again, very proud to support UK Land Estates and to further strengthen our relationship with a company that is having a
huge impact on the regeneration and economic growth of the North East.”
