Construction begins on Faverdale retail park

Castle House has started on phase one of the two-acre former industrial site in north west Darlington, and is scheduled to finish in September.

Almscliffe-Dhesi’s development was designed by Ellis Healey Architecture and is represented by agents @retail and lawyers Square One Law.

Five companies have already signed up as tenants and McDonalds has bought a portion of the site for its own unit.

All buildings on the site have now been demolished and the steel construction work is now under way.

The funding for the £4m development was provided by Hampshire Trust Bank.

Neil Creeney, director at Yorkshire-based AD, explained: “This is Phase One of a wider development on the Faverdale site. There is a further four acres that have retail consent which will be developed in due course.

“We are extremely pleased to have signed up a number of high-profile and successful retail operators for Phase One. They will make a significant difference to the retail offer in this popular area of Darlington and will prove to be a timely boost for the local economy.”
