Duchy Homes looks to add to Wynyard Park

Hartlepool is likely to approve plans for 97 houses as part of phase two of the garden village, subject to an almost £1m off-site affordable housing contribution.

Designed by Sten Architecture and supported by Lichfields, the application is for a mix of medium and lower density housing, varying between one to three storeys, to provide options for a range of households.

The nine-acre site is north of the A689 within the Wynyard Park boundaries, and is surrounded to the north by Vivre Homes’ residential development, to the west by self-build homes, to the south by Countryside Properties’ estate, and to the east by arable land with outline permission for up to 1,200 homes.

Nearby, Co-op has been announced as the anchor tenant for a nine-unit street of commercial outlets being built on Hanzard Drive, which will provide shops and services such as a hairdressers for the surrounding houses.

Elsewhere, a Sainsbury’s supermarket, 45,000 sq ft of trade counter space, and two drive-thru units are being constructed on Wynyard Business Park.
