Dysart eyes Guide Post housing
The developer has submitted plans for up to 310 houses and a Co-Op shop on 50 acres of land to the south of the Northumberland village.
Supported by Architects Group and Hedley Planning, plans also include full permission for an access spine road, the demolition and relocation of the Guide Post Working Men’s Club, and the construction of a food store – pictured in plans as a Co-Op.
The housing element is included as outline permission, with 10% affordable.
Located immediately north of Choppington Village, the site is around 17 miles north of Newcastle and to the south east of Morpeth.
Currently used as arable land, it borders land to the south that has permission for another housing estate, and is close to Guide Post High Street.
The existing Working Men’s Club will be demolished to make way for the access road to the residential development on the site.
The newly built replacement will have improved accessibility and facilities, and will be close to its original site and next to the food shop, with parking also provided within the scheme.
