PROFESSOR TIM JONES, UNIVERSITY OF LIVERPOOL | Professor Tim Jones took up post as vice-chancellor of the University of Liverpool, moving from the University of Birmingham, where he was provost & vice-principal. Tim’s research interests are focused on the surface and thin film properties of a wide variety of advanced electronic materials, with applications in areas such as photovoltaics. Tim is Chair of the Liverpool Health Partners Board & a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Business & Enterprise Board, the N8 Research Partnership, Liverpool Knowledge Quarter Board & Sciontec Board as well as a Director of the Russell Group & member of Universities UK.

DACE DIMZA-JONES, DEPARTMENT FOR INTERNATIONAL TRADE| Dace plays a significant role in attracting & increasing investment in Life Sciences in England & helps the region achieve its ambitions across the sector. Dace works with businesses, matching them to opportunities, by supporting & advising them on setting up or expanding their presence. She also supports businesses through enabling regional partnerships, matching investors with live opportunities, connecting investors with industry contacts & identifying suitable investment locations. Dace leads on the Life Sciences portfolio & sets & implements the operational strategy for England to achieve the objectives for inward investment in the Life Sciences sector & priority markets.

ANDREA WINDERS, MIDAS | Andrea is head of inward investment for Life Sciences & Health in Greater Manchester, calling on her previous commercial roles to develop innovative approaches & strategies to attract international businesses to the region. With a varied career, Andrea has won awards for innovation, by creating new solutions for old problems, & has experience in international sales, local government place leadership, & smart cities. The importance of place, living & culture, are as valuable as the eco-system, making up the magnetic package for Greater Manchester in life sciences & other key sectors.

JOHN LEAKE, SCI-TECH DARESBURY | John is the business growth director for Sci-Tech Daresbury. He moved to Sci-Tech Daresbury in 2006 to lead the establishment of the national science & innovation campus. The campus is home to a community of over 150 science & technology companies from start-ups to international corporates like IBM, Hitachi, Croda and Lubrizol. John is Chair of the UK Science Park Association (UKSPA) & has been a Board member for over 5 years. John also sits on the Liverpool City Region Investment Board & has been a member of the Liverpool City Region Digital & Creative Sector Board and Cheshire & Warrington Innovation Board.

COLIN SINCLAIR, SCIONTEC | Colin is the chief executive officer of Knowledge Quarter Liverpool (KQ Liverpool), a 450-acre urban innovation district which is home to some of the world’s most influential players in science, health, technology, education & culture. He is also chief executive officer of Sciontec Liverpool, the KQ Liverpool development company, which owns & operates the successful Liverpool Science Park, the Sciontec AI serviced space offices in The Spine & is developing the HEMISPHERE One & Two laboratory & workspace developments at Paddington Village, Liverpool City Council’s flagship development site.

STEVEN GREGORY, MORGAN SINDALL CONSTRUCTION | Steven leads the north west business for Morgan Sindall Construction, which specialises in complex projects in life sciences & commercial, as well as other key sectors such as health, education & residential. Having started out in the armed forces, Gregory has built a successful career in construction, holding senior roles with Engie and Equans before joining Morgan Sindall as area director earlier this year. Gregory sees life sciences as a key growth sector looks forward to sharing his insight into the opportunities this presents to the construction industry.

JOANNE HENDERSON, CBRE | Joanne has led the Life Sciences sector for CBRE in Europe since 2018. She has over 20 years of consulting & commercial experience in the Life sciences industry & prior to CBRE, she was an executive director in the Life Sciences Advisory practice in Ernst & Young (EY). She is a regular speaker & commentator on a variety of topics including R&D Clustering & Life Sciences Ecosystems. Joanne works extensively with both occupiers & investors, helping them to navigate the evolving sector dynamics to inform their real estate investment decisions & future portfolio strategies.

LAURA SHERLIKER, FAIRHURST ARCHITECTS | Laura is an architect & director with over 20 years of experience in leading science & innovation projects across the UK. Laura specialises in creating dynamic ecosystems & placemaking, dedicated to building vibrant communities. With a keen eye for detail, she excels in managing complex multi-phase projects, ensuring that each initiative not only meets but exceeds expectations. Laura is passionate about the intersection of architecture & community development & is committed to fostering sustainable & engaging environments.

LORNA GREEN, LYVA LABS | Lorna is the CEO & co-founder of LYVA Labs which was established in 2022 with £10.5m from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority to deliver economic growth through commercialisation of innovation; inspiring ideas, creating partnerships & attracting investment. They have a £6m pre-seed investment for Health & Life Sciences & Deep-tech start-ups & provide incubator & accelerator programmes, innovation consultancy & proof R&D grants for regional SMEs, alongside working with key partners to further develop the innovation ecosystem across the Liverpool City Region.

MARK ALEXANDER, FREETHS | Mark is a Legal Director based in Freeths Liverpool Office, specialising in Real Estate matters. Mark is a part of Freeths nationally renowned development team who has acted for some of the bigger housebuilders in the country & the largest commercial developments nationally. With a range of clients both domestically & internationally, covering private & public sectors. Mark’s experience includes acting for developers, investors & lenders (primary, secondary and tertiary) covering transactions in the residential, commercial, retail, industrial & care sectors. JAMIE BOTTOMLEY, TRACK REAL ESTATE | Jamie is the founder of Track Real Estate, providing leasing, tenant representation & asset management advice, specialising in the UK life science market. He has 14 years agency experience across the North West office & UK life science markets. Current science schemes Track are marketing include Cilylabs, MIX Manchester, Alderley Park, Upper Brook St Labs, Hexagon Tower, Tytherington Business Park, Birmingham Health Innovation Campus &specialist cleanroom facilities in Hull. They’re advising several lab occupiers on searches for new premises across advanced materials, life sciences and consumer goods markets, including both international inward investors & growing local SMEs.

JOHN WILLIS, LIVERPOOL CITY REGION COMBINED AUTHORITY | John is programme lead for the Liverpool City Region Life Sciences Innovation Zone, part of Government’s Investment Zone Programme. The LCR Life Sciences Innovation Zone Programme is a 10-year programme to drive growth & create thousands of jobs by unlocking more than £800m of public & private funding. John has extensive experience designing & delivering growth & investment programmes. John previously led on development of public investment projects to improve the flow of capital to early-stage business in the LCR, including the development of the LCR Seed Fund. John now leads on the delivery of the LCR Innovation Zone Programme.
