Green light for Newcastle’s largest EV hub
Godwin Developments has secured permission from North Tyneside Council to create the city’s largest rapid charging EV hub in Holystone Park, alongside a coffee drive-thru and shop.
The project team consisted of planning consultant LSH, Axis, and Saunders Architects.
The building will feature natural materials and a glazed frontage to maximise natural light.
The site will have 30 rapid charging bays and 24 additional spaces, nine of which will be accessible, as well as landscaping and pedestrian access.
Located next to the A19 and south of the Holystone roundabout, the scheme is close to a Premier Inn, a restaurant, retail and resi properties, and local parks.
Developed in collaboration with UK provider of charging bays InstaVolt, the bays will be available 24/7.
Simon Handslip, managing director of commercial development at Godwin Developments, said: “We are really pleased to have secured the green light to transform this prominent gateway site into Newcastle’s largest EV charging hub.
“The development directly supports North Tyneside’s goals to reduce transport-related emissions while also creating new jobs and attracting investment in the borough.”
