Hanro lodges Percy House demolition proposal

The developer wants to knock down the eight-storey section of the building, known as Percy Tall, to make way for a new development.

The front-facing part of the building that opens onto Percy Street will be kept as it is.

Pegasus Group submitted the plans to Newcastle City Council, stating that the office building “is currently vacant with the exception of one tenant” and that “the majority of the building is not up to modern standards for city centre office space.”

The office block was formerly in line for refurbishment, but the view now is that a rebuild would be more efficient.

Located in the commercial centre of Newcastle, the site is a two minutes walk from both the Haymarket and St James’ metro stations.

Savills was formerly the letting agent for the property.
