Investment-ready Trafford joins Place North MIPIM cohort
From large-scale housing projects to stadium-anchored regeneration schemes, the authority is heading to Cannes next March with plenty to shout about.
Trafford Council has joined the growing list of local authorities to partner with Place North for MIPIM 2025, with Wigan Council, Bolton Council, and Salford City Council already on board.
Supported by Savills, Trafford plans to use the global property exhibition to position itself on the world stage as one of the most exciting investment locations in the UK.
The council will showcase how its deep and varied regeneration pipeline can drive growth in Greater Manchester and across the North on the UK Pavilion, where Place North is running the expo’s first-ever stand dedicated to Northern towns and cities.

Cllr Tom Ross, Leader of Trafford Council, said: “Greater Manchester is set to drive the growth that the UK needs in the coming years and Trafford lies at the heart of that opportunity.
“We have some fantastic new developments planned across the borough – with opportunities for business, urban living or our new communities in Carrington and Davenport Green.”
He added: “I am therefore delighted to be joining forces with Place North at MIPIM 2025 in order to showcase Trafford on the world property stage – and ensure we can secure the future investment that our businesses and communities need to thrive.
“I believe that Trafford has the best that Greater Manchester has to offer – be that the new urban communities springing up in the Civic Quarter, thriving towns like Altrincham or Sale, our world-class sporting venues, the bright lights of the Trafford Centre or the rural splendours of Dunham Massey.”
Trafford is among the most active local authorities in the North of England when it comes to attracting investment and pushing for growth. However, there is plenty that people do not know about the borough that will come to light at MIPIM 2025.
“If you thought you knew Trafford, it’s probably time to think again,” said Jeremy Hinds, director at Savills.
“There are many areas being promoted by Trafford Council in its approach to encourage investors and developers to invest in the sought-after borough.”
Trafford’s approach to regeneration is one of the factors that has contributed to its growing profile among investors, Hinds added.
“Trafford Council has produced a series of area-specific plans and policies to bring forward large sites for new development.
“The pro-active approach by the council is helping to deliver housing across a range of types and prices to meet the high levels of demand in this most sought-after area of Greater Manchester.”
Dino Moutsopoulos, managing partner at Place North, said: “Trafford hosts a number of the most desirable investment locations in Greater Manchester.
“We are delighted they have chosen to join the Place North delegation and I look forward to working with Tom Ross and [corporate director of place] Richard Roe to help shine a light on the investment opportunities available in the borough.”
He added: “The Place North delegation continues to grow, fulfilling our promise to the Northern property market to bring the very best of the North together to go and sell our region to the world.”
Place North’s MIPIM delegation is growing weekly and includes a mixture of local authorities, policy leaders, investors, engineers, solicitors, architects, and more. You can see the list of partners below.
