Keepmoat plots Pottery Bank homes

Newcastle City Council looks set to approve the housebuilder’s plans for 42 affordable houses in Walker, in a scheme designed by Blake Hopkinson Architecture.

Having won the bid process in June last year, Keepmoat has worked alongside the council to produce plans for the 5.6-acre plot of land to the east of Pottery Bank and the north of Merton Road.

The estate has been designed with garden village principles, with an emphasis on retaining existing trees, incorporating landscape buffers, and installing cycle and pedestrian paths to encourage sustainable travel.

Previous housing on the site was demolished in 2007, and the land is now mostly grassed over.

The land is already allocated for housing, and 18 of the proposed houses will be for social rent and 24 for shared ownership.

The proposed housing mix is for four one-bed, 12 two-bed, 20 three-bed, and six four-bed houses, as well as six bungalows and four 2.5-storey houses.

More details about the scheme can be found using the reference 2025/0486/01/DET.
