Lawson bags Barratt promotion

Alex Lawson has continued to climb the ladder at the housebuilding giant’s North East operation, joining the board as commercial director.

As recently as summer 2023, Lawson was made up to head of commercial at Barratt North East, having joined as commercial manager in November 2022.

Lawson’s new role will see him lead the BNE team to achieve targets relating to accurate build cost assessments for land acquisition, budget control through the lifecycle of developments, and managing key relationships.

He said that envisions a leading commercial team within the division, characterised by strong relationships, repeat business, and mutual growth with suppliers and subcontractors.

Lawson has worked in housebuilding since 2016, initially working in civil engineering.

He said: “It’s been such a fantastic journey working with Barratt Developments North East, and I’m so pleased to have been promoted to commercial director. The team around me is superb, and I’m looking forward to continue seeing the progression of the individuals within it, as well as delivering our business objectives.”

“It’s been excellent watching him develop within the business since he joined us just a short time ago, and I look forward to watching him lead and develop the Commercial team even further.”

Barratt hit the headlines last week as a deal to acquire Redrow for £2.5bn was lined up.
