Middlesbrough to greenlight 225 homes
Persimmon is looking to add to the wider Hemlington Grange development, which has outline consent for 1,200 dwellings.
The homebuilder is now hoping to advance phases 3b and 4b, with plans to be discussed at Middlesbrough’s planning meeting on Thursday.
Phase 3b is located to the south of the wider site, west of Wolseley Way, and is on an area of open space that is part of the site but does not currently have any planning permission attached to it.
It is next to another area of open space and a parcel of land to the east that has outline consent for more housing.
Meanwhile, phase 4b is located to the north of Hemlington Grange Way, between Elvey Lane and Cookson Road.
It is surrounded to the north, east, and west by earlier phases of the wider site, with intervening landscaped areas.
With outline consent for the site already secured, it is presumed this latest activity will be waved through, so long as the scale, mass, and layout is satisfactory.
The proposed housing mix for the 225 homes is split into 101 detached, 118 semi-detached, and six terrace houses.
This is split between two- and three-storey homes, ranging from two- to four-bedrooms.
Most of the approved homes on the Hemlington Grange site have already been completed.
The recommendation is for approval, subject to securing the nutrient neutrality mitigation, an issue that has caused headaches for Middlesbrough Council’s planning committee before.
