Narro expands into the Cluny Works

The structural and civil engineering consultancy has relocated its Newcastle office to the Ouseburn premises.

Taking 1,200 sq ft, Narro Associates is leasing the premises from landlord Hooked-On Group.

The expansion comes as the Edinburgh-based firm is finding increased demand in the North East for its services, which focus on conservation and sustainable engineering.

Projects that Narro has been involved with in the region include Tynemouth House, a residential scheme delivered in collaboration with Mawson Kerr Architects; a series of conservation surveys and repair schemes for the Northumberland Estate, including work on the historically significant former Alnwick railway station; and structural and civil engineering design for the redevelopment of Bamburgh Castle’s historic Walled Garden, introducing a new café and changing space.

Ben Adam, managing director, said: “We’re delighted to be moving into The Cluny Works. This new space reflects the growth of our Newcastle team and our commitment to the North East.

“Ouseburn is a fantastic creative and cultural hub and being based here will strengthen our relationships with local architects and developers.

“Our expertise in conservation and sustainable engineering is particularly well-suited to the area’s rich architectural heritage, and we’re excited about the opportunities ahead.”

The Newcastle expansion follows the recent opening of Narro’s first London studio, further enhancing the consultancy’s size, reach, and ability to deliver thoughtful, elegant, and environmentally responsible engineering solutions across the UK.
