New director at RWO
The North East-based firm has appointed Phil Brown as geo-environmental services associate director, as it expands its ground engineering operations.
Brown has more than 20 years’ experience in large-scale infrastructure remediation and earthworks, having spent eight years at Sirius Remediation early on in his career, followed by a brief stint as senior contaminated land officer at Durham County Council, before returning to the Sirius Group for another eight years, where he rose to technical associate.
Prior to joining RWO, he was with Arc Environmental for four years, becoming technical director.
In his new role, he will work alongside head of department Chris Rudd and split his time between the Stokesley and Newcastle offices.
His brief will include coordinating major infrastructure projects, business development, operational oversight, technical compliance, and managing a team of geoenvironmental engineers.
His appointment comes as RWO sees a rise in demand for its geoenvironmental services, as commercial and residential developers bring forward their investment and regeneration plans in the North.
Ground investigation projects that the team has been involved in recently includes Liverpool John Lennon airport, Manchester International airport, and PD Ports at Tees Port, with the department targeting £1m in revenues by the end of this year.
Brown said: “I’m looking forward to developing more integration with civils and structural services, closer involvement in the burgeoning data centre work, and delivering more holistic engineering solutions for clients.”
