New regional director for Northern construction at BAM
Mark Gibson has worked in the construction industry for more than 30 years and has spent the last 11 years at Sir Robert McAlpine. He will take up his appointment at BAM UK & Ireland later on this year.
During his time at Sir Robert McAlpine he was managing director of the company’s healthcare sector and previously held the position of managing director for the Northern business unit. In this role Gibson had responsibility for the company’s growth in key sectors including healthcare, education, leisure, commercial, and industrial within the region.
Founded in 1869 and headquartered in The Netherlands, Royal BAM Group employs more than 13,500 people and has a revenue of €6.3bn. Gibson’s appointment comes following difficult times for BAM UK recently, after the company worked on the infamous Co-op Live arena in Manchester. The £253m deal to construct the 23,500 capacity stadium for Oak View Group was the division’s largest contract to date, however the project was hampered by soaring costs, supply chain issues, and project delays.
Kim Sides, executive director, construction for BAM, said: “I am delighted Mark has chosen to join us and I am sure he will bring fresh expertise in our Northern region. He is also extremely familiar with the area and the opportunities it can provide BAM in the North of England and right across the UK.”
Mark Gibson himself said: “I am excited to be joining BAM and very much looking forward to start working with the Northern Regional team. Being in the industry for over 30 years, BAM has always been renowned for delivering sustainable and high-quality projects for all their clients and communities. To be playing a key role in their future is a challenge I can’t wait to be part of.”
