Newcastle secures Northern flagship for Jewells

Shopping centre Eldon Square will house the upcoming brand’s new store, adding momentum following deals with Sephora and Flight Club.

Founded by entrepreneur Brett Bundy, Jewells is described as “a transformative brand geared towards a young female audience”.

As the only site in the North, the 1,000 sq ft store, located next to Molton Brown joins six other retail destinations which will all be opening Jewells stores on 30 May.

The shop will stock an extensive range of jewellery items ranging from £30 to £3,000 as well as offer luxury piercing, fine line tattoo services, and personal styling services.

Leah Uka, chief brand officer at Jewells, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to open one of our first-ever stores at Eldon Square – a location that embodies everything we look for in a retail partner.

“As a vibrant and much-loved shopping destination in the heart of Newcastle, Eldon Square offers the perfect setting to introduce the Jewells brand to the North East. We have ambitious growth plans over the coming 12 months and cannot wait to welcome Eldon Square customers to experience everything we have to offer.”

Matthew Beddow, senior director at Pradera Lateral, which manages Eldon Square,  added: “Securing the sole Northern store for Jewells’ first foray into the UK market reinforces Eldon Square’s position as a key destination for leading and emerging retail brands and highlights our ability to draw enviable tenants to the centre.

“Jewells’ offering brings a fresh and elevated experience to our jewellery and accessories line-up, and we’re confident it will resonate strongly with our shopper base.”

With an annual footfall of 27m, Eldon Square is one of the UK’s most visited city centre shopping malls. Across its 1.35m sq ft it boasts more than 140 retailers.

The raft of recent retail & leisure deals has seen leisure destination Freight Island announce its intention to take over part of the former Debenhams at Eldon Square.

Eldon Square is managed by specialist investment manager Pradera Lateral and Savills.

Newcastle City Council is the freeholder, with a 40$ stake, advised by Rivington Hark. XPE Group, formerly known as Debenture, has the remaining stake. XPE’s portfolio also includes XSite Glasgow and The Potteries Centre Stoke.
