No2 Pilgrim Place plans set for approval
Newcastle City Council will consider the revised plans for the seven-storey office building at its next meeting, with changes made due to fire and sustainability regulations.
Taras Properties, which is owned by developer Reuben Brothers, was granted permission to build the two Ryder-designed office buildings in 2021.
These were to be up to 10- and 12-storeys in height, known as 1 and 2 Pilgrim Place.
With construction underway on 1 Pilgrim Place, changes to the height and design of the second building are coming before the council.
Predominantly, the changes have been influenced by changes to fire and sustainability regulations, with an additional fire escape and a plant enclosure added to the roof.
The footprint of the building remains the same.
1 Pilgrim Place will provide around 245,000 sq ft of grade A office space across nine storeys.
It is being constructed by Bowmer + Kirkland, as is an underground 132-space car park and service area, and has already secured a 170,000 sq ft pre-letting from the Department for Work and Pensions.
On the DWP letting, Avison Young acted for developer Reuben Brothers and BNP Paribas acted for DWP.
2 Pilgrim Place will provide around 100,000 sq ft of grade A office space, across seven storeys.
Part of the Pilgrim Place regeneration project in the city centre, the buildings are located east of Pilgrim Street and south of Worswick Street.
The 0.5-acre site is next to Bank House, grade two-listed Worswick Chambers, and 93-101 Pilgrim Street, which is currently being converted into F&B outlets.
