Persimmon lodges Hartlepool plans

The housebuilder is looking to build 116 homes on land south of Elwick Road in High Tunstall.

If approved, Persimmon would build them under its premium Charles Church brand, with a mix of four- to five-bed homes.

Located around a 10 minute drive from Hartlepool town centre, the estate would include public areas of open space.

The application follows Persimmon’s approval of 70 homes on a 10-acre disused reservoir east of Hart Lane last August, as well as its much larger outline permission for around 1,200 homes in the town, which was granted back in 2024.

That development is situated on land between the A689 and Brierton Lane and is being delivered in five phases.

Richard Holland, Charles Church Teesside land director, said: “As well as delivering much needed high quality new housing, this application will also see substantial investment going into Hartlepool and the local community.

“We’re working hard to play our part in delivering new homes for local people and look forward to working with residents and the council on bringing these plans to fruition.”
