Salford becomes latest city to head to MIPIM

The local authority has extended its long-running programme of activity with Place North, including heading to the global expo with the North of England delegation next month.

Stephen Young, chief executive of Salford City Council, said, “Following a number of successful years working with Place North West, we will be looking to continue and develop that relationship further in 2026. Our partnership with Place North West forms part of an annual package that positions Salford across a programme of activity throughout the year, including multiple events, editorial coverage, and our presence at MIPIM. This year‑round collaboration strengthens our voice, expands our reach, and ensures we’re consistently telling the Salford story to the audiences that matter.”

MIPIM is due to be held from 9 to 13 March in Cannes, France. The global real estate event attracts more than 20,000 delegates annually. Place North has around 60 firms attending as part of its delegation, taking part in the UK Hub programme.

Young added: “Looking ahead to 2026, we continue our journey of delivering on our commitment to deliver a fairer, greener and healthier Salford for all, and there’s plenty to share. There’s the developing work around the significant regeneration of Eccles town centre, as well as the huge potential created by the new Western Gateway Mayoral Development Zone.

“Our Salford Strategic Regeneration Forum presents further opportunities for the council and developer partners, whilst flagship schemes such as Crescent Salford and the Strangeways and Cambridge Strategic Regeneration Framework continue to take shape, both physically with work taking place on the ground and in the planning stage.

“Together, all these projects present a real glimpse into the city’s future and the next chapter of Salford’s regeneration story.

“I’m sure our annual partnership with Place North West will continue to enable us to profile the diverse opportunities in Salford and further highlight our development and regeneration vision.”

Benefits for partners

You benefit from shared branding, association with respected regional coverage, and the effect of being part of a coordinated UK-wide presence.

The partnership approach also massively reduces friction: logistics, programming, and audience-building are handled by the Place team with nearly 20 years’ experience in property events, freeing you to focus on strategic conversations, relationship-building, and showcasing your pipeline. With Place shaping the narrative, partners can confidently position schemes, towns, and businesses as investible, future-facing and ready.

What your campaign could include

A typical campaign of activity can blend on-the-ground presence in Cannes with pre- and post-MIPIM amplification. Elements might include:

  • Speaking slots on the UK Stage or themed sessions such as Investible North or Great Minds to spotlight specific projects, boroughs, or sectors.
  • Hosted panel debates, roundtables, or private briefings in the North of England Suite or Palais stand, using the terrace and inner lounge for launches or investor receptions.
  • Thought leadership content, in-focus interviews, and video features distributed through Place’s channels to extend reach well beyond the four days in Cannes.
  • Structured networking: curated introductions to councils, funders, and development partners, plus invites to breakfasts, dinners, and informal socials where real deals begin.
