Stockton to consider 345-home Ingleby Barwick scheme

Joint developers Keepmoat and Strata are hoping for approval on the site, which will add to ongoing development in the area and was designed by Newcaslte-based Pod architects.

The site is located on a 42-acre site on Welwyn Road, west of Thornaby and approximately six miles from Middlesbrough town centre, and five miles from Stockton-on-Tees.

Plans comprise 339 houses and six bungalows, 69 (20%) of which will be affordable.

Stockton Council will consider the plans at its upcoming council meeting on 4 December.

Consultants Savills submitted plans one year ago, and noted that permission, now lapsed, was previously granted in 2016 for 550 homes on the site, including on an additional piece of land to the west.

Savills also noted that the council granted approval to Bett Homes for the construction of 70 homes to the south of the site, and to Bellway Homes for 50 houses to the west, both of which are now constructed and occupied.

As well as those developments, 212 homes are being constructed by Miller Homes to the west of the site, and again, permission has been given for 200 homes to the east.

The consultancy company concluded that the Keepmoat and Strata development would, therefore, fit in with and aid the local development plan.
