Taylor Wimpey probes Sunderland housing

The homebuilder is considering a 257-home development on the edge of Easington Lane, neighbouring its existing Clarence Court estate.

Taylor Wimpey has submitted documents to Sunderland City Council, to see if plans can proceed with or without an environmental screening report.

Located to the north of Murton Lane and south of Colliery Lane, the 30-acre plot is currently arable land made up of three fields with hedgerow boundaries, and the development would be split into three areas mirroring this layout with the majority of hedges retained.

An existing tree belt would also be kept intact, with pedestrian links added in.

The two northern parcels of land would be accessed from Colliery Lane, while the southern parcel would have direct access off Murton Lane.

The project team at the moment includes planning consultant ICP and Howarth Litchfield Architects.

Taylor Wimpey’s Clarence Court development sits to the west of the site alongside an area of designated open space, which the housebuilder also owns and manages.
