Work begins on County Durham resi
Hardwick Homes, in partnership with housing association Livin, has started work on a development to deliver 65 affordable homes in Spennymoor.
Designed by architect P+HS, the scheme will feature a mix of two-storey houses and bungalows with two, three and four bedrooms, all within walking distance of Spennymoor town centre.
Once completed, the development will provide modern, energy-efficient homes designed to meet a variety of needs and support the growth of a diverse and connected community, the firm said.
The site will provide a 10% biodiversity net gain. Each property will be equipped with PV solar panels, air-source heat pump and electric vehicle charging point.
Hardwick Homes director Jeff Pike said: “Moulders Park is a zero-gas development that sets new standards for design and sustainability in affordable housing.”
The development is being built on a former greyhound track, and has been named Moulders Park in tribute to the area’s historic brickworks.
With an expected completion date of summer 2026, the homes will be available for social rent and rent-to-buy. Anyone wishing to apply must be registered with Durham Key Options.
