Miller set for Coxhoe greenlight

Durham County Council looks set to approve the developer’s plans for 99 houses on land west of Gladstone Terrace in the village, in a scheme designed by Pod and supported by Hedley.

Plans also include space for a community ‘park and stride’ on land at Cornforth Lane, which has been added in to ease pressure on the nearby Coxhoe Primary School and other local amenities.

Landowner Hamilton Land & Development has already held a public consultation in the village hall and discussed the impact of the possible estate with the school and the parish council, with the promise of S106 contributions and the extra parking received positively.

The 11-acre site is made up of two agricultural fields that have no designation in the Local Plan, to the north of the A1(M) and south of more agricultural land, housing, a sports centre, cricket field, and bowling green.

Located a short drive from Coxhoe, the site is around equidistant from Durham and Bishop Auckland, which are both around six miles away.

Durham will discuss the application at its meeting on Friday.
