Thompsons makes 5,000 sq ft Newcastle move
The law firm, which specialises in personal injury and employment rights, has taken almost half of the top floor at Wellbar in a relocation from Maybrook House.
National practice Thompsons has worked in Newcastle since 1980, and will now move 80 team members to a recently refurbished space on the ninth floor of Gallowgate office building Wellbar.
Tony Hood, operations director at Thompsons Solicitors, said the firm is “thrilled” to make the move, adding that “it was the standout location from our property search, and the light and views offered from the ninth floor are particularly attractive.”
The top floor as a whole extends to 11,300 sq ft at the 10-storey building.
Hood continued: “This strategic move underscores our continuing commitment to the thousands of clients we represent in the North East, and provides an enhanced working environment for our dedicated Newcastle-based staff, with the modern surroundings they require for collaborative working.”
Patrick Matheson is partner at Knight Frank, the building’s joint letting agent alongside Savills. He said: “This latest letting brings the property closer to full occupancy, with only the newly-refurbished seventh floor remaining fully available, offering 14,000 sq. ft. of Grade A office accommodation.
“And of course there is also a fantastic opportunity for an organisation to take the 5,000 sq ft that remains on the top floor.”
Already home to firms such as Kennedy’s Law, Careline Lifestyles, Turnitin and Sky, a £1m programme of ESG-led improvements has been carried out by Motcomb Estates vehicle Wellbar Properties over the last two years, including upgrades for a number of office spaces, the ground floor reception, lift lobbies, WCs, and shower facilities.
