£5m Sunderland co-living scheme proposed
Plans are in for the conversion of Arngrove House on Frederick Street into a 63-studio block to be operated by Nova Co-Living.
PS Commercial – sister company of Nova – is the applicant, with the wider project team including Goldline Architectural, Planning House as consultant, and TiggColl as interior designer.
The proposals cover Arngrove House at 1-2 Frederick Street, 3-6 Frederick Street, and 4-7 St Thomas Street, within the Sunniside area.
The buildings currently form two distinct but interconnected groups, and the D&A statement notes the buildings have struggled to attract and retain users.
The scheme would involve the conversion, extension. and refurbishment of the existing buildings to create purpose-built co-living accommodation, alongside a range of communal facilities.
Each of the 63 studios would provide private sleeping and living space, an en-suite bathroom and a compact kitchenette, while shared facilities would include an events room and lounge, fitness suite, co-working area, communal kitchen, games lounge, laundry room and a large rooftop terrace. Secure cycle storage is also proposed.
The application will now be considered by Sunderland City Council.
