Bell joins Caddick Construction
Steve Bell is now operations director for the contractor covering Yorkshire and the North East, moving from Wates.
Bell had held an equivalent position at Wates, and had previously worked for Bowmer + Kirkland.
Caddick said that Bell’s joining reflects the latest in a line of senior hires as the business eyes expansion across the North. The hire sees Caddick’s group construction managing director Paul Dodsworth swoop on his former employer for a key lieutenant.
Bell will fulfil a remit to oversee the business’ portfolio in the North East and Yorkshire, ensuring consistently high standards across all aspects of project delivery, the firm said.
Based primarily in Knottingley, Bell will lead Caddick’s operational delivery, including health and safety, supply chain partners, client relations and build quality across the business’ core markets in the public and private sectors.
Other recent joiners include HR business partner Sue Currey and Neil Trubshaw as construction group commercial director, Trubshaw also arriving from Wates.
At the same time, Adam Tucker and Andrew Clarkson were promoted to design director and construction director respectively, both covering Yorkshire and the North East.
Bell said: “Caddick has an excellent reputation across the north, and I see my appointment as a chance to be part of the exceptional standards set by my colleagues.
“I’m really excited to get under the skin of Caddick, to understand what makes the business such a success and to be part of making sure we retain those successful elements as we scale our business and expand across the region.”
Paul Dodsworth, who had been managing director for Wates’ construction and residential north division until joining Caddick in July 2022, said: “I have worked with Steve for over 20 years and know the level of quality he strives for; Steve has a perfect balance between supporting his colleagues, working towards the very best quality and always looking at ways to improve and innovate.
“This combination is absolutely vital as we grow our business, making sure we hold on to what makes our business special while we keep a keen eye on our sustainable future growth.”
