Newcastle set to greenlight 110-bed PBSA

LOK Developments is looking to demolish and rebuild 150-156 New Bridge Street, creating student accommodation that ranges in height from four to six storeys.

The demolition of No150 and the abandoned development at No152-156 will make way for the PBSA with nine six-bed clusters, 10 five-bed clusters, and six studios, amounting to 110 rooms in total.

Located on the corner of New Bridge Street and Argyle Street and opposite Northumbria University Design School, the scheme has been designed by Xsite Architecture.

The wider project team consists of DPP planning, structural and civic engineer JC Consulting, OS Ecology, acoustic consultants Apex, transport consultants SAJ, and daylight consultants GIA.

New Bridge Street is the site of Gainford’s recently announced regeneration project, which will see the former Premier Inn transformed into a 29-storey residential development, a 150-bed hotel, bars, and restaurants, designed by FaulknerBrowns Architects.

More details about the scheme can be found by searching Newcastle’s planning portal with the reference: 2024/1669/01/DET.
