Bellway submits Durham housing plans

The housebuilder is working with Stantec and Savills on a 200-home development on land west of Bournmoor.

The wider project team consists of Roberts Environmental, OS Eclogy, Pegasus, Ergo Environmental, and TPS.

Currently agricultural land, the 21-acre site is classed as Green Belt and sits next to Lambton Park, another residential development that forms a northern extension to the village.

Savills noted the council’s lack of a five-year housing supply and the location of the land as a natural link to the village as reasoning behind removing the Green Belt designation.

Bournmoor is around 5km from Washington, 9km from Durham, 11km from Sunderland, and 14km from Newcastle.

No housing mix has been detailed as of yet, other than the fact that around 30% of the housing will be affordable.
