Sunderland appoints CBRE on Crown Works investment search 

The TV architect has applied to convert 176 Hush Street West into Home of Books, a cultural bookshop, café, and event space, with an apartment on the upper floors. 

The developer has officially been appointed on the redevelopment of High Street West, which will create an urban neighbourhood with spaces to live, work, and socialise on four development plots cleared earlier this year. 

Scaffolding is being dismantled and attention will switch to the interior of the 112,000 sq ft facility, due to complete next spring. 

Richard Reed Solicitors is taking 5,000 sq ft at Riverside Sunderland’s inaugural building, joining tenants Ocado, North East Screen, Apexon, and Asset55. 

The sustainability-focused developer has acquired 0.74 acres of land on the former Vaux site and will build 34 city centre homes, constructed by local contractor Compass. 

Data for the seven local authorities that make up NECA show that Northumberland’s debt is largest, at £834.5m, while County Durham’s is the lowest at £434.8m. 

The developer wants to build 109 affordable homes to the north of Emsworth Road in the Carley Hill area of the city, in a scheme designed by Newcastle-based JDDK Architects.
