PRZM lines up Silksworth Lane retail
GMI Construction is on board as construction partner for the proposed £15m development, which would see outlets for M&S Foodhall and Aldi delivered at the Sunderland site, along with a Starbucks drive-thru café.
Consultation is now live online for the project, with a planning application to follow. The site sits close to a Sainsbury’s and a branch of The Range, south-west of Sunderland city centre. PRZM Real Estate said that the development would “significantly enhance the range and choice of retail provision in this location”.
According to the consultation website, the M&S would weigh in at 24,5000 sq ft, with Aldi taking up a 20,000 sq ft building and Starbucks the drive-thru coffee unit.
The site would be accessed from a new roundabout spur off Silksworth Lane. Around 275 car parking spaces are expected.
PRZM said on the consultation site that its intention is to submit plans this month, hoping for determination this summer – a timeline that if met could allow stores to be operational st the scheme from Q4 2027.
Lichfields is advising on planning.

The clue here is that this is A LANE already over congested in heavy taffic which comes to a standstill at busy times . Almost impossible to cross and dangerous speeding every day . The needs a massive traffic survey before a spade hits the earth . Isnt the City Centre dying . Let them build there.
