Law firm commits to Wellbar Central
Eversheds Sutherland will relocate its Newcastle team after signing a lease for around 4,500 sq ft at the 10-storey Gallowgate office building.
A £1m programme of works was recently initiated by Motcomb Estates vehicle Wellbar Properties to lift the building’s environmental credentials, with new heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems to the fore.
Wellbar Central is home to Irwin Mitchell, Global Radio, Turnitin, and Sky, as well as XPS Pension Group and Advance Business Software. Close to St James’ Park, it comprises 118,000 sq ft of office space.
Ranked as a global top 10 law firm, Eversheds Sutherland will take its space on the eighth floor. The firm will move from Rotterdam House.
The vacant ninth floor, comprising 11,354 sq ft of open-plan space, is undergoing refurbishment, while a fourth-floor suite of 2,634 sq ft is also available.
Patrick Matheson, partner at Knight Frank, is marketing Wellbar Central alongside joint letting agent Savills. He said: “The significant investment that is being made in Wellbar Central is having the desired effect in attracting aspirational occupiers who are looking for best in class office space.
“The news that Eversheds Sutherland has committed to the building is fantastic for the city and we look forward to announcing more positive news in the months ahead.”
Wellbar Properties took possession of the building in December last year, and started its 16-week £1m upgrade in March.
