Lawson steps up at Barratt North East

Alex Lawson has been made head of commercial at the housebuilding giant’s regional operation.

Lawson joined the North East division as commercial manager in November 2022, having worked in quantity surveying, housebuilding, land acquisitions and site starts.

He had begun his career with a local civil engineering firm working on groundworks projects.

Lawson then spent three years at Story Homes from 2016, moving to Keepmoat Homes as a senior quantity surveyor, where he progressed to land and partnerships manager before moving to Barratt Developments North East, moving from commercial manager to the new role in less than seven months.

As head of commercial, Lawson will oversee areas including quantity surveying, procurement and material buying.

Lawson said: “I’m thrilled to be taking on the role. The teams within the business are absolutely fantastic, and I’m looking forward to being part of and leading a team where personal development is encouraged alongside exceptional team support.”
