Senior hire brought in for Newcastle health scheme
Andrew Fairest has joined Genr8 Developments as project director, taking on a lead role in the £500m Health & Innovation Neighbourhood development.
Joint venture business Genr8 Kajima Regeneration is partnering with Newcastle University on the healthtech-led neighbourhood at the site of the former general hospital off Westgate Road.
Plans were greenlit in April for around 800,000 sq ft of medical, R&D and business space, along with more than 1,000 homes, and ground has since been broken as demolition kicks off.
Former Muse man Fairest joins the firm with almost 30 years’ experience and a proven track record of delivering major projects across the UK.
Genr8 has also hired Ellen Lockhart, as a senior development manager, having worked in London with Grosvenor Property UK and most recently, Canary Wharf Group.
Mike Smith, partner at Genr8 said: “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Andrew and Ellen to the Genr8 team.
“Both are incredibly well respected in their fields and bring a wealth of experience, knowledge, and dynamism that will help us accelerate our ambitious growth plans and deliver transformational change to cities and towns in the region.”
