Plans in for Ashington industrial expansion
Proposals have been lodged to add 18 SME-focused units to Wansbeck Business Park, adding around 25,000 sq ft in total.
The proposals from development vehicle Village Wansbeck are now lodged with Northumberland County Council.
As set out in the design & access statement, the two-acre site is currently an undeveloped plot on the park.
Access to the site is off Rotary Park Way, the only road in and out of the business park, an established commercial location that has also recently seen the addition of a new college campus.
The site is close to the A19, while Ashington as a whole is now better connected, via the Northumberland Line.
Business accommodation is proposed in two terraces of two-storey buildings, which will be around 1,400 sq ft each, with workshop space below and office space above.
The application team was previously responsible for a similar, 24-unit scheme at Cramlington Industrial Etate, which completed in 2021 and is now 100% let with enquiries continuing to come in.
The team said: “The layout of the site and the tenant occupancy has also created a thriving business community and continued employment moving forward.”
Documents relating to the Ashington application can be seen on NCC’s planning portal, reference 26/03102/FUL.
