Gap funding available in Northumberland

A grant funding programme worth £3m to fill viability gaps for employment units from 10,000 sq ft to 50,000 sq ft has been launched by Business Northumberland.

The county council’s business support service is using money from the recently launched £110m Northumberland Growth Fund.

The Northumberland Economic Infrastructure Programme Commercial Property Incentive, the first element of a major new initiative designed to unlock investment, aims to meet demand from frustrated occupiers stuck for options for new space.

Cllr Glen Sanderson, Leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “This represents a significant investment in the future prosperity of our county.

“By supporting the development of new, fit-for-purpose commercial premises and strategic infrastructure, we are creating the foundations for future business growth, attracting investment and delivering high-quality jobs for residents across Northumberland.

“This programme will help unlock opportunities that may not otherwise be realised, ensuring Northumberland remains an attractive place to live, work, invest and do business.

“Businesses consistently tell us that access to high-quality premises and supporting infrastructure is critical for growth. The NEIP has been designed to address these challenges directly by enabling investment in projects that will have a lasting economic impact.

“By working closely with developers, investors and businesses, we can unlock strategic opportunities, attract additional private sector investment and create the conditions needed for a stronger, more resilient economy.”
