Groundworks start on 93-home Vaux scheme in Sunderland
North East-based contractor Falcon Fox is delivering the residential-led phase of the project on the former brewery site, which forms part of the wider Riverside Sunderland regeneration programme.
Led by Sunderland City Council and Siglion Developments, the development will comprise two landmark apartment blocks alongside clusters of high-density housing and duplexes.
The apartment blocks will provide 41 apartments and two commercial units, while a further 52 homes will complete the scheme.
Groundworks began during the summer to prepare foundations and drainage for the development and are nearing completion ahead of the installation of timber frames for the houses from September.
The scheme has been designed with a focus on sustainability and long-term energy performance, incorporating photovoltaic panels, air source heat pumps and mechanical ventilation with heat recovery systems.
