Homes by Esh gets the nod for 230 homes at Burtree Garden Village

The North East housebuilder’s latest application comprises a mix of two, three, and four-bedroom properties and follows approval for a further 130 homes at Darlington’s emerging garden village in May.

The development is located in the Faverdale area of Darlington, where Burtree Garden Village is planned to deliver around 2,000 homes alongside community facilities including a community centre, pub and health provision.

Homes by Esh said the latest proposals have been developed in accordance with the approved garden village design code, with the scheme intended to respond to local housing demand.

Dale Morris, technical director at Homes by Esh, said: “We have been working closely with Darlington Borough Council to answer an important housing need across the Borough.

“Following on from the planning approval for 130 new homes at Burtree last month, our focus remains on bringing forward high-quality, design-led homes in Darlington, and contributing positively to the long-term vision for the garden village.”

All properties will include electric vehicle charging points, while additional parking will be provided where possible.

The scheme will also exceed the 10% biodiversity net gain requirement, with measures including additional woodland planting, species-rich grasslands and wildlife corridors, alongside ecology mitigation.

Homes by Esh currently has two live developments in Darlington, with 144 energy-efficient homes under construction at Hurworth Meadows and 155 homes being delivered at Elder Brook Park on Neasham Road.

The approvals at Burtree follow the completion of a 225-home development at West Park Garden Village, which incorporated new green spaces.
