Apexon makes Sunderland move
The tech services company has committed to 5,700 sq ft at The Beam as it looks to build a base for UK growth.
Apexon, a Goldman Sachs-backed business specialising in delivering technology services that accelerate business transformation, will move to the 59,000 sq ft Riverside Sunderland office block, which also houses Ocado and North East Screen.
“We are really excited to expand our presence in the UK, a vibrant technology hub at the forefront of global digital evolution,” said Rob Gwyther, managing director of Apexon UK.

“We look forward to partnering with organisations as their technology partner of choice to help them navigate their digital transformation journeys and create meaningful competitive differentiation.
“Our Sunderland headquarters will help us gain access to the best and brightest digital engineering and technology talent in the region and we reaffirm our commitment to creating a robust, inclusive culture that will help our employees grow and thrive.”
Since it first opened an office in the Sunderland area in 2014, Apexon has grown from 25 employees to more than 150 and now partners with Sunderland College to provide on-the-job training for T-level students.
Patrick Melia, chief executive of Sunderland City Council, said: “Apexon’s expansion into its new office space demonstrates the growth and development opportunities that digital services offer in Sunderland.
“With its new headquarters in Riverside Sunderland, Apexon is the latest global brand to realise the area’s potential. We are delighted to have worked with them to secure their new home.”
The Beam sites within the Vaux area of the Riverside Sunderland masterplan, where Wates has now stepped in as main contractor for a flagship residential project.
