Banks plans for west Newcastle residential site
The North East developer intends to build 74 homes on an 11-acre site in West Brunton, within the boundaries of Newcastle Great Park.
Banks Property will submit a planning application for the scheme in autumn, with the expectation that it would go before the council next year. If approved, construction could begin in 2026.
Details of the site are yet to be confirmed, although it will include a range of house types and a 15% allocation of affordable housing.
The area is identified as a neighbourhood growth area in Newcastle City Council’s Local Plan.
The site is to the east of Banks’ existing Kingston Village development, which will see around 900 new family homes being built on a 120-acre site. The developer is currently working to identify partners for the project.
Jamilah Hassan, community relations manager at Banks Group, said: “This is a logical location within a residential area for the type of high-quality development we’re proposing.
“The new government has stressed the importance of increasing the UK’s supply of high-quality homes… Our West Brunton development would contribute towards meeting this goal and we’re confident that the members of Newcastle City Council’s planning committee will recognise the quality of our proposals when they come to assess them.”
