Flight Club eyes Newcastle opening

Now an international business, the social darts venue operator has applied for a licence at Eldon Square as it looks to make its North East debut.

The most recent Flight Club opening was in Liverpool two months ago, with Oxford set to follow this month as the group’s 14th UK destination.

The brand is also now operating in the US, Australia, and Ireland.

An opening by the brand, which has been among the most successful operators within the “competitive socialising” market segment, would be a boost to Eldon Square, where a major redevelopment is in the works.

In a further positive move, the retail & leisure destination has this week announced the opening of a Hotel Chocolat concept store and Velvetiser cafe, due to open on 30 November.

Flight Club will be a little further into the future. According to Newcastle City Council documents, a licence application from Flight Club Darts was registered on 7 November, seeking permission for a premises licence at Unit 6, on the lower level of Greys Quarter, Eldon Square.

The application seeks permission for the venue to serve alcohol from 10am to 1.30am daily.

Steve Moore, chief executive and founder of Flight Club said, “We’re exploring bringing Flight Club to Newcastle. It’s a city that’s notorious for epic nights out so it feels like the perfect place for our next home.

“It’s too early to confirm any details at this stage, but Newcastle is definitely on our radar and we hope that Flight Club will become a part of its buzzing nightlife at some point in the future. We’d love to show Geordies what a Flight Club party looks like!”

The licence application reference number is 108753.
