Newcastle’s Bank House attracts sixth tenant
Professional services firm Knights has agreed terms on more than 5,000 sq ft at the Pilgrim Street office building, which attracted Barclays and DAC Beachcroft in 2023.
Knights, currently based at Esh Plaza, said it is growing significantly in the North East, with colleagues in Newcastle and Teesside working as part of a team of more than 1,200 professionals across 23 offices nationwide.
The 40-strong team in Newcastle will soon be based on the seventh floor of the 100,000 sq ft Bank House, the first of three sustainable office developments lined up for the southern end of Pilgrim Street.
Last year, Barclays decided to move its regional base to the building, while other tenants at the 14-storey block include law firm DAC Beachcroft, international management consultancy Oliver Wyman and insurer Lycetts.
Flexible workspace provider Cubo has also recently opened at Bank House after taking a lease on the top two floors.
The property was designed by Ryder Architecture and built by Bowmer + Kirkland.
Knight Frank represented Knights, Lisa Shacklock, client services director at Knights who leads the team in Newcastle, said: “The move to Bank House is an exciting step for our team. It is the latest investment in our people as we continue to grow across the North East.
“We have already attracted some top talent in Newcastle since we arrived in June 2023 and this fantastic new office ensures we can create an environment that matches the premium service we offer.”
The deal is the sixth letting at Bank House since the building officially opened in May 2023, and sees occupancy levels reach 50%.
Avison Young is joint agent with Knight Frank on the building. Adam Lawson, graduate surveyor at AY, said: “With a host of top-quality facilities, Bank House is ideal for dynamic and innovative businesses who want to provide best in class workspace for their people.
“I’m sure the Knights team will settle into their new office quickly and benefit from the great location as they look to invest to secure their future growth needs.”
Bank House is the first phase of the Pilgrim Street development, a transformational regeneration project delivering more than 750,000 sq. ft. of offices, a new public square, destination food and beverage offer and a boutique five-star hotel.
