Newcastle appoints economic advisor

The aviation services firm intends to develop up to six more narrow and wide-body hangars within the planned Aviation Village located on 50 acres west of the airport. 

Acting on behalf of Homes England, the nine-acre site in Morpeth has outline planning permission already granted and capacity for up to 51 homes. 

The contactor has completed the steel frame on its £31m Griffin Court extra-care scheme in Hebburn, which it is delivering in partnership with Karbon Homes and the council. 

The site on Queen Alexandra Road West in North Shields, which has been vacant since the facility closed in 2023, will be redeveloped into 47 homes.

Having secured the green light for the project back in July, the Department for Education has officially awarded the work to the contractor, who has been involved from the planning stages. 

Forty years after making the list, the city’s UNESCO site – which includes the cathedral and castle – is set to benefit from a new management plan that will influence future planning, development, and investment. 

Empty since 2021, the 29-acre Darlington site will become home to the UK’s first large-scale plastic film recycling plant. 

Newcastle City Council will consider proposals for the construction of a two-storey building and demolition of existing facilities at its meeting on 31 October.
