Taylor Wimpey probes Amble housing
The housebuilder is considering building up to 300 homes on 61 acres of agricultural land on the western edge of the Northumberland town.
Newcastle-based GFW has applied on its behalf to the council for an EIA screening opinion, to ascertain whether an environmental assessment would need to be done in advance of a planning application.
Taylor Wimpey is hoping to submit said planning application later on this year, which as well as the housing will consider public open space, green infrastructure, pedestrian and cycle connections, and affordable housing provision.
The site, which will be known as Gloster Hill, is bounded by residential development to the east and south, open countryside to the west, and the Coquet Estuary corridor to the north west.
At this stage, it is thought access will be taken from the existing road to the east. The land does not fall within surrounding designated ecological areas.
