Vistry set for Gateshead go-ahead
Working together as the Gateshead Regeneration Partnership, the housebuilder and council’s plans for 131 homes on land at Church Place in Felling are recommended for approval on Wednesday.
Designed by architect Blake Hopkinson and supported by Pegasus Group, the 12-acre site is in the east of the borough and is next to Felling Metro Station.
If approved, the development would have easy access to Abbotsford Road, which is north of the site, and hence, quick links into Gateshead and Newcastle centres.
The land currently has a cleared housing section in the centre, an area of open grass in the northern section that is used for informal play, a formal playground area in the eastern corner, and grassed area to the south with a variety of trees.
There are a number of pedestrian routes through the site linking to Felling Metro Station, the hight street, and Brandling Primary School, and the Gateshead East Cycle route runs along the length of the northern boundary and Sunderland Road in the south.
The housing mix is made up of two- to four-bedroom houses, and plans for the estate were submitted in November 2025.
Gateshead Regeneration Partnership is a joint venture between Gateshead Council, Vistry Group, and Home Group
