Refurb completes at Baltic Works

Landlord South Shore Developments has rebranded the 131,000 sq ft office, formerly known as Baltic Place, in a £1.85m project spearheaded by Robertson Construction.

Located at Gateshead Quays, the five-month project focused on introducing a range of facilities to support employee wellbeing.

These include a 24/7 gym and changing facilities, a courtyard with seating, high-speed broadband, parcel lockers, a self-serve micro market offering food and drinks, and a modern business lounge.

The building’s reception area has also been upgraded with contemporary finishes and new energy-efficient lighting, contributing to the office’s BREEAM Excellent rating.

The 10-storey building is already occupied by main contractor Robertson, Santander, Northern Gas & Power, insurance broker and risk management firms Gallagher and Lockton.

Arranged across two asymmetric towers connected by a shared reception, Baltic Works provides office accommodation over eight levels.

Sir Bill Robertson of South Shore Developmentscommented: “For almost two decades, Baltic Works has been a key landmark on Gateshead Quay.

“With occupier requirements at the core of its offering, the refurbishment reflects the changing dynamics of the office environment, and the building remains an excellent option for occupiers who are looking to give their employees access to elevated facilities.”

Matt Dawson, property manager, South Shore Developments, said: “When the building was originally developed, it met a growing demand for high-quality grade A office space at competitive rates within the Newcastle-Gateshead market.

“This latest investment in Baltic Works recognises the desire for workplace environments that prioritise wellbeing, flexibility, and convenience.”
