Banks to build 89-bed PBSA at South College, Durham

Plans have been submitted by the developer for the final piece of the Mount Oswald project, which began in 2013 and will comprise 291 homes, offices, and retail space.

The project team includes Gradon Architecture, Structural & Civil, Portland Consulting, and NEECO.

As well as the purpose built student accommodation, a 4,500 sq ft retail unit will be located on the ground floor.

The grassland site is next to existing student lodgings and opposite two of Durham University’s campuses, South College and John Snow College.

Banks Group noted the large student population and said the housing will “meet the needs of Durham University” and reduce demand for HMO properties.
